If you ever have need of an extended powder drop tube when loading compressed powder charges, you also know that nothing else will do. Here's an idea to always have on hand just the drop tube you need. Copper tubing for plumbing purposes comes in many diameters, and if you buy the tubing that is straight instead of the coiled tubing, it makes a much better drop tube. Simply cut the tubing into the desired length and use an ordinary flaring tool (If you don't own a flaring tool, many hardware and building supply centers will allow you to use theirs while on the store premises, and also to cut it to length with their tubing cutter.) to flare both ends of the drop tube. One end will fit over the cartridge case mouth, the other drops the powder.
Since copper tubing comes in a variety of sizes from 1/8" on up, having 1/8, 1/4" and 3/8" diameters will cover all of your possible loading needs from .22 through .45 Caliber provided you put a good flaring job on each.
